Amsterdam Forest, Amsterdam

Three times the size of New York’s Central Park, Amsterdamse Bos is a large and lovely park southwest of the city and near the airport. There’s a large number of nature paths. It’s about 14 km around the perimeter. Highlights include the 4 km bucolic paths around De Poel lake, and 5 km around the Bosbaan rowing lake. After one of the best running route in Amsterdam you can enjoy pancakes at Meerzicht Farm. The city also has designated routes: 5 km along the Bosbaan, 10 km for half a lap of the Bosbaan or full lap for a half marathon. All three routes start at the Boswinkel and partly incorporate the same paths. This is a great running option right near the airport. Also, a good starting point or side trip is the 1928 Olympic Stadium.
