Parc Montsouris, Paris

The Parc Montsouris is one of the largest green spaces in Paris. The park's proximity to the Cité Universitaire makes it a favourite walking spot for students. The Parc Montsouris comprises a lake, beautiful statues, remarkable trees and the restaurant 'Pavillon Montsouris', where Lenin and Trotsky were frequent guests. Visitors can also see Montsouris meteorological observatory and the 'mire du Sud', a monument marking the location of the Paris meridian, which was until 1884 the 0 meridian for french speaking world. The Montsouris reservoir, which holds a third of the drinking water consumed by Parisians. Just before the opening ceremony of the garden, which Napoleon III was going to attend, the water suddenly left the reservoir, and the contractor Adolth Alfane, who was responsible for the construction, committed suicide. That's why it is one of the best place for a historic and interesting places for a run in Paris. And yes, every saturday there is one of 2 parkruns in this City.
